I love the quote on the back cover. It’s captures the essence of the book in one sentence:
The bravest are those who have the clearest vision
of what is before them, both the glory and danger alike,
and yet nevertheless, go out to meet it.
-Thucydides
All growing up, I was encouraged by the females in my life to get in touch with my “feminine side.” So, I learned to listen, hug, write poetry, even shed a tear now and again. All in all, the advice was pretty sound, and I’d say, my marriage was been greatly benefited by the training. But when was the last time you ever heard anyone encourage someone to get in touch with their “masculine side?”
The Bravehearted Gospel is a book that does exactly that. Because we need the growl and the grrr to return full force to the Body of Christ. We’ve grown overly limp, sensitive, and sheepish in and amongst the congregation of saints, and it’s high time that we gained back the manly stuff, the soldierly presence, the authoritative gait of those that are “more than conquerors.”
Here’s a peek at the back cover copy:
Once upon a time, Christianity was the stuff of legends and Christ’s loyalists were spiritual and moral revolutionaries, the kind of men and women who turned the world upside down. But over time, something has happened to that once fervent and bravehearted band who dared to be called Christians.
Many today have inherited a faith that has no real life or power. Instead of zeal there is apathy. Instead of courage there is timidity. And instead of confidence there is paralyzing doubt.
Something has to change.
For all those hungering for a spiritual revolution, there is an ancient bloodstained trail, trod by the greatest men and women in history, beckoning us to once again explore its epic and grand terrain. For all those hungry for a Christianity that actually works, a faith that reforms the human life and possesses the power to rescue this dying world, this trail mustn’t be ignored. For it is the path of heroes and of real-world change - it’s the path of The Bravehearted Gospel.
For those of you struggling to put your finger on just what is off-kilter with the Church today, this may very well be the book for you. For those of you who are irked by the Emergent Church, but you just can’t figure out why, this book was built for your illumination.
This isn’t a cool book, an edgy book, a hip book. To be honest, this is a book that puts me in hot water. It doesn’t say what is supposed to be said, it says what must be said.
If this sounds like your sort of book, then please purchase a copy today.
For the Kingdom and the Glory,
Eric Ludy
